Jackson family patriarch suffers stroke

Joe Jackson, father of Michael Jackson, the rest of the Jackson 5, and Janet Jackson, suffered a stroke Thursday morning in Las Vegas, according to a source close to the family who asked not to be identified.

Jackson, 83, is being treated in a Vegas-area hospital and is in "very good spirits," according to the source.

The stroke was "mild," according to a second source, who added that it was similar to two others Jackson has experienced in recent years.

Joe Jackson created and managed the Jackson 5, the legendary R&B and pop group made up of his sons, including Michael Jackson.

He is still married to the matriarch of the family,Katherine Jackson, but they live separately -- he has a home in Las Vegas, while his wife lives in Calabasas, California, with Michael Jackson's three children.
