Now I finally get how people overseas can still watch "Two and a Half Men" despite the language barrier:
Sometimes you don't need to understand a word to appreciate just how terrifying something really is.
That's certainly the case with this "ghost in the elevator" prank from a Brazilian TV show. I don't speak a word of Portuguese and still got chills each time the straggly haired, sad-eyed girl appears in the elevator, emerging through a secret door.
Of course that's a much more sedate response than what the completely horrified passengers/prank victims deliver when their elevator goes pitch black, the lights flicker on, and out pops Little Miss Nightmare with her bald doll.
Meanwhile, the audience is laughing like this is the funniest thing ever. Well there's one thing I guess I still don't understand.
Say, what's Portuguese for "schadenfreude"?
Anyway, here's hunching that next time, these folks just take the stairs.
