Following in her late mother's footsteps, Dannielynn Birkhead has become a Guess model 20 years after Anna Nicole Smith stepped into the role.

The 6-year-old daughter of Smith and Larry Birkhead, Dannielynn was selected as the face of Guess Kids for its Spring 2013 collection.

Her father went on "Good Morning America" to say that the shoot was a way for the little girl to connect with a mother who passed away when she was only 5 months old.

"Dannielynn has always looked up to her mom's image and … I think that this is kind of Dannielynn's way of paying tribute to her mom in her own special way," Birkhead explained.

The ad features Dannielynn, who bears a striking similarity to her famous mother, posing on the beach in a denim vest and skirt with a fedora perched on her head.

"To see her mom's picture next to hers as a Guess girl and say, 'Hey, I was a Guess Kids girl, my mommy was a Guess girl,' that might be her only connection with her mom," he said.

The ads are set to appear as early as January 2013 on billboards, magazines and buses.
