"Facts of Life" star and recent "Survivor" contestant Lisa Whelchel has revealed she's contracted West Nile Virus.

The 49-year-old actress tweeted the news to her fans on Wednesday saying, "Dr. just called with blood test results...I have West Nile. Ugh. I'm fine, just tired. Takes a year to recover."

Whelchel, who appears on the latest season of "Survivor: Philippines," did not clarify if she contracted the illness while on location for the reality show, which wrapped filming in April. The illness is known to be spread by mosquitoes.

After news of her illness broke, the star received an outpouring of support from her fans, prompting her to tweet, "I've been very touched by all the sweet tweets." 

The actress continued, "Other than tired, I'm feeling fine & expecting a full recovery. So grateful for you. Thanks!?"
