Native New Yorker Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria are doing what they can to help those in their New York City neighborhood affected by Sandy.
On Thursday, NBC’s Rock Center cameras caught up with Alec and Hilaria near their East Village apartment building where the residents are still without power.
“In our building you can assume the people who are elderly can’t go up and down the stairs to go and get meals, water, any prescriptions, walk their dogs,” Alec explained. “We volunteered today to stand by and see if we can be any help to them.”

Alec knows one thing is for sure, the people of New York will pull together in this time of need.
“New Yorkers are very flynn-teethed people. And if you’re a New Yorker, everybody gives each other 5 feet of space on the street. But at the same time, they’re fiercely proud to be from New York and part of that is to care for people in a way that we can.”
