New Jersey natives Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and Long Island's own Billy Joel are getting ready to take the stage to help in the Sandy relief efforts.
NBC announced on Thursday that a benefit telethon and concert will air on Friday. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to aid in the relief effort. The "Today" show’s Matt Lauer will host the event.
"Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together" will air on all of the NBC Universal networks, including NBC, Bravo, CNBC, E!, MSNBC, G4, Style, Syfy, and USA. It will also be live-streamed on NBC.com.
This is not the first time NBC has used its resources to contribute to aid hurricane victims. In 2005 it organized a similar benefit after Hurricane Katrina. NBC also took part in a telethon organized with other networks after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010.
