Saucy! The racy Ragù ad that made us squirm

If any Olympians saw the ad which aired during the Games, we imagine their reaction would have looked something like this.

Well, it would appear the folks at Ragù got exactly what they wanted.

If only all of us unsuspecting late-night Olympics viewers could say the same thing.

Minutes after the pasta sauce company debuted its new ad (view it below) depicting a pajama-clad kid walking in on his parents during a very intimate moment, "Ragu" was trending on Twitter. High fives in the boardroom, Monday afternoon! Janet's bringing the balloons!

But it wasn't received in quite the same way among those without Ragù business cards.

"Rageww," tweeted Bloomberg's Jake Beckman, requiring only six of his allotted 140 characters to neatly sum up the communal response to an ad which tries selling us a jar of tomato sauce by having a pudgy grade-schooler stare slack-jawed at his parents having sex.

Who's hungry for some angel hair??

The horrified little man, much in need of some comfort food (see where this is going?), then soothes both his scorched retinas and the gaping wound where his innocence once resided, with a heaping bowl of Ragù-covered noodles.

I know this exact scenario (minus the sauce) has happened to generations of unfortunate children with horrible timing in deciding when would be a good time to bust in and let Mom and Dad know they're having trouble falling asleep. So perhaps that's why in addition to the general "Yo, that was uncalled for" reactions, there were also plenty of comments and tweets like this one, declaring "Forget about all the medals. That Ragù commercial makes me proud to be an American."

Watch the ad below then tell us what you think. Awesome, horrifying, clever? Share your take in the comments below!
