In light of the Aurora, Colorado movie theater massacre, Warner Brothers confirmed to HLN that they are pushing back the release date of the film "Gangster Squad" from September 7 to January 11, 2013.
The film, which stars Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, featured a scene of mobsters spraying gunfire in a packed movie theater. The original trailer showed this scene and was pulled by Warner Brothers shortly after the Colorado tragedy.
Although Warner Brothers did not comment beyond the postponement, the Hollywood Reporter reports that the delay will allow time for the studio to reshoot the critical movie theater scene inside of Grauman's Chinese Theater.
