After lots of chatter, Steven Tyler is now officially parting ways with “American Idol.”
“After some long...hard...thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” Tyler said in a statement released Thursday afternoon. The singer went on to say, “I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band.”
The announcement comes as rumors continue to circulate about the rest of the “Idol” judging panel. Hours before Tyler’s departure, Jennifer Lopez told “Today” she felt that “maybe it’s time” to leave the show. Both Tyler and Lopez have been on the show for the last two seasons.
But the “Idol” news does not stop there. The only original judge remaining, Randy Jackson, could be out as well, in favor of former “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert.
That could leave Ryan Seacrest as the only man standing. Fortunately for "Idol" fans, Seacrest recently signed a new two-year contract for a reported $15 million dollars.
What do you think about Steven Tyler leaving “Idol”?
