Police say a 27-year-old Florida woman stabbed her 72-year-old husband and threatened to have him killed if he called police after he accused her of cheating on him with another man, according to the incident report.
Maceij Nowicki, 72, recently discovered that his wife, Brygida Scheffler was cheating on him with another man for about a year, police said.
On June 7, police said the husband confronted his wife about the cheating as they were standing in the kitchen of their home.
As they argued, police said Scheffler grabbed a “six inch kitchen knife that was in the kitchen and lunged at him,” the incident report stated.
Investigators said the husband raised his left arm to fend off the attack and was stabbed in his left forearm as his wife swung the knife at him.
The husband then grabbed a golf club to defend himself, police said. The husband told police that his wife told him that if he called police, her friends from the bar would come and “do him in,” according to the incident report.
Police said the husband called 911 anyway, and when police arrived they found him bleeding profusely.
Investigators found a small kitchen knife sitting on the kitchen counter. “There was blood and a small amount of flesh on the tip of the knife,” the incident report stated.
Police also noticed “many blood spots on the floor of the kitchen and living room of the residence.”
According to the incident report, Scheffler told police her husband had stabbed himself in order to “get her in trouble.” Police said she also told them she and her husband were in the process of breaking up and he was very upset.
Scheffler was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a person older than 65. She was released form the Volusia County Jail on $20,000 bond.
HLN reached out to Brygida Scheffler’s attorney for a comment, but calls were not immediately returned.
“We have been married for 10 years,” Nowicki told HLN. “The last two years my wife somehow wasn’t herself. Age difference is a lesser evil here. If I had money there would be no problems…as far as I know she is living with her lover.”
Scheffler reportedly told The Daytona Beach News Journal that “everything that man said and all the charges they put on me are false.”
