The days of a guy simply kneeling before his beloved to ask for her hand in marriage are over.
Apparently, it takes more than just the age-old gesture to propose to a girl nowadays. Way more.
Fresh out of creative proposal ideas? Take a cue from Craig Jones, who hired dancers and a marching band to ask his girlfriend, Allison Leclaire, to marry him.
That’s right -- this 26-year-old staged a flash mob in New York’s Bryant Park before popping the question. According to the Daily Mail, Jones hired professional dancers to surprise Leclaire with a choreographed number to Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel.”
After the performance, a 140-person high school band came into the park and played “Hey! Baby” by Bruce Channel. It wasn’t until Leclaire saw his and her family members coming out of the crowd that she realized what was happening.
That’s when Jones, dressed as one of the band members, kneeled in front of his girlfriend and asked her to marry him. The band started playing again, confetti flew everywhere, and Jones turned around to the crowd and yelled “She said yes!”
Leclaire told ABC News she was completely surprised. “It was overwhelming that it was all for me.”
So sweet, right? There’s only one setback to this kind of romance: The price tag. The Daily News reports that Jones spent $9,000 on the proposal!
