Just months after Rob Lowe tackled the part of alleged wife-killer Drew Peterson, he is returning to Lifetime, this time as Casey Anthony prosecutor Jeff Ashton.
HLN confirmed the “Parks and Recreation” star has signed on to play Ashton in the TV flick tentatively titled “Prosecuting Casey Anthony.”
The film is based on Ashton’s best-selling book, “Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony,” and the controversial case will be told from Ashton’s point of view, following the investigation into Anthony and the trial.
In a statement to HLN, Ashton says he is very pleased with the casting of Lowe. "I’m flattered that Lifetime has chosen Rob Lowe, a Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee, to play me in a movie about my book," said Ashton. "I wish I had his boyish good looks. When I told my wife, she asked 'So does that mean I’m married to Rob Lowe now?' I look forward to meeting him."
Now that we know who is playing Ashton, we want to know who you think should be cast in the role of Casey Anthony? Tell us in the comment section below.
