Aide's wife: I wanted proof of Edwards' affair

Cheri Young says she wanted to make sure she had proof of how she hid John Edwards’ mistress from the world.

Young is married to Edwards’ former campaign aide Andrew Young, and she is testifying in the 2008 presidential candidate’s campaign fraud trial.

She says she secretly videotaped Rielle Hunter’s personal items, including a list of possible baby names. Young said she made the video without Hunter’s permission because she wanted proof she was hiding the candidate’s pregnant mistress and paying for Hunter’s living, medical, and travel expenses.

The origin of the money used for those expenses is at the heart of the case against Edwards.

Prosecutors say Edwards used close to $1 million in campaign funds to hide his pregnant mistress from the public during his presidential run.

Prosecutors are also expected to call former Edwards staffer Josh Brumberger to the stand. The book “Game Change" by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann claims that Brumberger was fired because he told Edwards to end his affair with Hunter.
