7-year-old Batman patrols Texas city

A young boy with leukemia became Batman last weekend, thanks to the police and fire departments in Arlington, Texas.

Armed with a batarang and flanked by his own Robin and Batgirl, 7-year-old boy Kye Sapp foiled a bank robbery and an attempted car bombing in an elaborate adventure staged by Arlington officials and a Wish with Wings, a charity organization devoted to granting wishes to Texas children with life-threatening conditions. While wearing the cape and cowl on Saturday, Kye took down the Joker and the Riddler and was even given a key to the city in a ceremony at City Hall.

After the Arlington Police Department posted photos and video of Kye’s crime fighting efforts online, grateful mother Tina Sapp wrote on their Facebook page:

“My family and I tremendously appreciate all of the men and women of APD & AFD, not only for the gr8 lengths you went thru to grant Kye's wish but for what u do for the community continuously! May your lives be filled with blessings beyond ur imagination! It was a magnificent day! THANK YOU! And many thanks to Worthington Bank and City Hall for ur contribution it is amazing how everyone came together to make Kye's dream real!”
