Justin Bieber can add another award to his trophy shelf. The Biebs and his manager Scooter Braun -- who first discovered the pop star on YouTube -- will be honored at the 3rd annual Disruptive Innovation Awards at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 27.
The duo is being honored for being the “first major discovery of an artist on Youtube.” The Tribeca film institute says that the videos of a young Bieber covering major artists, discovered by Braun, “led to an unprecedented success story that disrupted the traditional gatekeepers of the music industry.”
The "Baby, Baby" singer is also being honored for his use of social media. Currently he has more than 18 million Twitter followers, 41 million Facebook fans and 2.7 billion video views on YouTube (a number likely to rise when he releases the much-anticipated new video for his single "Boyfriend").
Bieber is expected to accept his award in person.
