After an eight-year absence, the legend is back. San Diego’s favorite newsman will return to the big screen in an “Anchorman” sequel. Will Ferrell, in character as Ron Burgundy, made the announcement on Conan O'Brien's Wednesday night show. And of course he did it the way only Burgundy can: in the middle of a flute solo.
“I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas -- to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the U.K. -- including England -- that as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchorman,’” Burgundy said before playing himself off stage.
The last time we saw Ron Burgundy and his motley crew of local news personalities from the Action 4 News Team, he was demonstrating the importance of proper punctuation in teleprompters and his affinity for scotch. The 2004 comedy followed Burgundy’s exploits as a top anchorman during the 1970s who has to deal with the introduction of a new female co-anchor to his news team.
Are you ready for the return of Ron Burgundy, or do you think this anchor’s time has passed?
