Adele, the British siren who's dominated the music charts of late, ended an acceptance speech at Tuesday's Brit Awards on a sour note: She flipped the bird.
The songstress is having a great run. In addition to all the awards, her masterful album "21" just capped its best-selling week ever -- more than 730,000 copies -- exactly one year after its release, according to a Columbia Records press release Wednesday.
Unceremoniously rushed off the stage so that another act could be included in Tuesday's broadcast, the singer went M.I.A., raising her middle finger in the air as she exited.
The awkward moment happened at London’s O2 Arena as the singer accepted the award for British Album of the Year for “21". She also picked up British Female Solo Awards honors.
"Nothing makes me prouder than coming home with six Grammys, then coming to the BRITs and winning album of the year. I'm so proud to be British and to be flying the flag and I'm so proud to be in the room with all of you," she said.

But the host, comedian James Corden, had heard enough, “I’m so sorry, I can’t believe what I’m about to do,” he said.
“You’re going to cut me off?” Adele fired back.
Then, in a broadcast viewed by more than 6 million people, the “Rolling in the Deep” star gave a middle-finger salute.
Earlier this month, rapper M.I.A. was heavily criticized for an identical impromptu gesture during Madonna's Super Bowl XLVI’s halftime show.
