The newest cover of People touts Elizabeth Smart's big day as a "Dream Wedding," on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Smart, adhering to the modesty of her Mormon heritage, beams in a short-sleeve lace wedding gown, holding a vibrant bouquet of tropical flowers.
Smart married her Scottish boyfriend, Matthew Gilmour, on Saturday. The pair had dated for about a year, and were engaged a mere month before the nuptials. She reportedly told the intimate group of family and friends in attendance that she "couldn't be happier."
The Daily Mail reports the whirlwind wedding planning was hastened to avoid media speculation. "It's everything you can imagine with planning a wedding, but it's compressed into a few days," she said.
Smart and her new husband met during a mission trip to France. Gilmour is also Mormon and the two were married in the Laie Hawaii Temple, the first Mormon Temple to be built outside the U.S. mainland.
No word on the honeymoon plans, but the couple says they do plan to settle down in Elizabeth's hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah.
