Hollywood’s biggest show of the year is just days away and Showbiz Tonight will be right there on the red carpet with all the big stars. But are you ready for the big showdowns?
There are dogs, a silent film, fantastic females and some heavyweight hunks in the mix this year, so how will you decide who you pick to take home the gold in the Oscar home game?
A.J. Hammer wants to talk with you on Facebook about three of the great Oscar debates this Thursday at 2 p.m. ET. Journalist Taryn Winter Brill will join A.J. to dish on all the details. Click here to join the chat once it's live.
Showdown #1: Brad Pitt vs. George Clooney
These two are great friends, former co-stars and now they’re going toe-to-toe in the Best Actor category. Brad Pitt is nominated for his work in “Moneyball” and George Clooney in “The Descendants." George took the Golden Globe for Best Actor, so what does that mean for this face-off?
Viola Davis vs. Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep has been nominated for Oscar a record 17 times, winning only two over the years. This could be her year for lucky Oscar number three for her role in “Iron Lady." But don’t count Viola Davis out! As she told Showbiz Tonight, she could “Whoop Meryl’s butt in a good old-fashioned street fight,” but what about Oscar? She won a Best Actress SAG Award for her dramatic role in “The Help” -- could she beat out the most nominated actress in Oscar history?
The Best Picture race!
What a horse race for Oscar in the Best Picture category! A silent film, a 3-D movie and even a comedy are up against some really dramatic competition among the nine films up for Best Picture. Could Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” upset the entire field? Might the silent film “The Artist” have a golden night? What's your pick?
Join the Showbiz Tonight LIVE Facebook chat on Thursday at 2 p.m. ET and watch A.J. Hammer, Nischelle Turner, Kareen Wynter and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Vanderpump this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on CNN for all the red carpet excitement at the Oscars!
