Wish we could have seen the look on the Walmart greeter’s face when a cunning customer slipped through the front doors of the Illinois store and went on to stink up the joint. HLN affiliate WQAD reports that employees spotted the skunk, which had taken refuge behind one of the vending machines in the foyer.
How did they try and remove their fetid, furry friend? By poking a stick at him, of course! Which is probably the worst thing you could do, like, ever.
An employee was squirted with a face full of skunk juice as the smelly scallywag made a beeline for a neighboring store, where the manager decided to do the smart thing.
“He went toward our doors, and we had turned the doors off so he couldn’t get in,” Mercer Market manager Steve McLaren tells WQAD. “He went to the first place he could find and that was the pop machines.”
Someone ended up calling the police, who turned the case over to wildlife experts. They wrapped the vending machine in plastic and hauled it away (skunk still inside).
It’s important to note that no skunks were harmed in the process and the offending culprit was later released into the wild, but not without leaving behind a mark so malodorous, it took employees hours to mop up!
