The day after Adele took home six Grammy awards for her widely successful breakup album 21, the British songstress tells Vogue magazine she is done writing about her own heartbreak.
Vogue’s March cover girl confesses “After my first record, interviewers were like, ‘Are you going to be as sharing and as honest on your next record?’ And I was like, ‘No, I think I’ve learned my lesson.’ And then I did it again! But even more magnified!”
Now the 23-year-old international sensation is looking for a little more privacy and says she is done with “being a bitter witch.”
Another reason why Adele might be changing her tune is because she has found Mr. Right. While she admits having a crush on Alec Baldwin -- “he’s so sexy" -- her real love right now is a 37-year-old former investment banker Simon Konecki.
“He’s wonderful,” Adele tells Vogue. “And he’s proud of me, but he don’t care about what I do or what other people think. He looks after me. I don’t think I would have gotten through the recovery for my surgery if it hadn’t been for him.”
While Adele gave a flawless Grammy performance on Sunday, the singer admits she was worried last year when she began losing her voice and later underwent vocal cord surgery. “I knew my voice was in trouble and obviously I cried a lot,” says Adele. She soon found comfort from fellow musicians who had gone through the same surgery.
“John Mayer had it done at the same time as I did,” says Adele, “and he really helped me be chilled out about it. Roger Daltrey’s had loads of stuff done; Steven Tyler reached out; Elton John. Lots of artists have had problems with their voices, but you don’t know about it. And they are still singing incredibly well in their 50s and 60s.”
Adele says now that she is healthy and in a good place in her romantic life she is looking forward to writing a “happy record.” After that? Adele tells Vogue she wants to “Get married. Have some kids. Plant a nice vegetable patch.”
