A Pizza Hut proposal: How, uh, romantic?

NEED TO KNOW
  • Pizza Hut offers a $10,010 proposal package
  • The deal includes a ring, a limo, flowers, fireworks and ... a pie
  • Would you say yes to your guy over a piece of pizza?

Lots of brands are playing up proposals around Valentine’s Day: jewelry stores, flower shops, and … pizza chains?

Yup, Pizza Hut’s peddling a “Tie the Knot with the $10 Dinner Box” package. The cost: $10,010.

Wait, why would anyone pay $10K for a $10 dinner box? Because it comes with a ring, a limo, flowers, and a professional photographer to capture the special moment. You don’t get any diamonds -- the ring that comes with the package is a red ruby one. But you do get a fireworks display at the end of the night.

Is the deal worth $10,000? Financially, it might be a pretty good deal, considering all that it comes with. But from the point of view of romance, would you really want to say yes to the love of your life over pepperoni pizza and a ring that matches the pleather on the booth you're sitting in? Word on the street is, diamonds are a girl’s best friend.

Pizza Hut either tried to make the deal really exclusive or picked up on its lack of romance (we’re guessing the latter), because they’re limiting the number of proposal packages to just 10.

So if you miss out on the deal, don’t worry, we’ve got the perfect backup ideas: You could always take your sweetheart to a candlelight dinner at Waffle House, show her how much you really love her with a bouquet of salami, or present her with an 8-carat diamond ring in a red velvet cupcake.
