Model hurt in propeller accident is back & blogging

NEED TO KNOW
  • Lauren Scruggs returns to writing and tweeting
  • Style maven recently fitted for prosthetic eye

Lauren Scruggs, the 23-year-old fashion editor who was severely injured last year when she accidentally walked into a plane propeller, is back. And she’s doing what she loves: Blogging at her fashion site, LoLo, and tweeting again!

To give you a glimpse of her social media popularity (okay, she did reportedly work in the wardrobe department of “Gossip Girl”), Scruggs recently tweeted that she missed her True Religion jeans. The clothing company tweeted her back, asking her more information so that it can help find her the exact match.

Scruggs is still on the mend, but her social media resurgence has inspired her fans and led to a windfall of love across social media.

Just days after receiving a prosthetic eye, Scruggs wrote a February 5 blog post titled “Inspired on Sunday” featuring several styles for spring.

It was Scruggs' first entry since an early January post thanking her supporters, and she shows off several styles for spring.

“So glad to see you posting again on your blog, Lauren. You’re on my mind and in my heartful prayers. Your strength and courage inspire me!” said Ellen, a commenter on her post.

On December 3, Scruggs suffered massive head and shoulder injuries after crossing in front of a small plane at a private airport in McKinney, Texas, apparently to thank the pilot.

In a 911 recording of the incident obtained by TMZ, a female caller can be heard saying, “A girl walked into an airplane prop -- I need an ambulance immediately. I think it cut her hand off!”

Since then, Scruggs has received an outpouring of love, mostly through a blog her parents set up on the Caring Bridge, which updates the public on her recovery. Last week, they announced their daughter had received a prosthetic eye. “It is beautiful," Lauren's mother Cheryl Scruggs wrote.

Scrugg, who is reportedly close to receiving a prosthetic arm, made her first public appearance last month.
