Flying robots: Nano quadrotors unite!

NEED TO KNOW
  • Flying bots were created by University of Pennsylvania’s GRASP Lab
  • Can a Terminator be far behind?

Imagine a fleet of robotic insects whizzing through the air and turning on a dime. You try to escape them but you can't.

That’s not a science fiction movie, that’s what a gaggle of "nano quadrotors" can do, as evidenced by a video circulating on the web.

Created by the University of Pennsylvania’s GRASP (General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception) Lab, the miniature copters are part of several projects exploring the range of autonomous vehicles.

The quadrotors perform several maneuvers, including a figure eight.

A top comment on the Youtube video migh say it best: "Skynet went online at 2:14 AM, January 31, 2012. Human decisions were removed from strategic defense."

Could a Terminator be far behind?
