A Georgia farmer was left in a state of udder confusion after being attacked by a cow. The 900-pound heifer head-butted him and tossed him into a barbed wire fence, breaking some of his ribs.
"I thought she would kill me before she'd leave me alone," Raymond Parks told WXIA.
Turns out the cow had rabies, which is pretty rare in cattle. Sounds like it’s time for this farmer to beef up his cattle vaccinations.
Parks says he was planning to milk high cattle prices but he’ll now have to wait to sell part of his herd. Nineteen of his cows have to be quarantined for six months, according to WXIA. If they’re cleared, then off to market they go. If not, well, you can guess what happens then.
The whole experience has soured Parks' feelings about the cattle raising business. The farmer is in his 70s and is now thinking about mooving on to greener pastures.
"It's probably about time for me to retire, since I almost got killed," says Parks.
But his wife of more than 50 years is calling bull.
"He'll never quit," she tells WXIA. "He'll never retire."
Are the steaks too high to retire now? Or should someone stick a fork in him because he’s done? Maybe he'll chew on it for awhile.
