The University of Virginia administration is preparing its students for the murder trial of George Huguely.
Students are being offered counseling if they need help coping with the trauma of the murder trial.
The murder of lacrosse player Yeardley Love has been in national headlines since her body was discovered in May of 2010.
WVIR reports that in an email to students, UVA President Terry Sullivan said, “The trial of George Huguely will begin in Charlottesville Circuit Court on Monday, February 6. As the trial gets under way and the national spotlight focuses on our community once again, nearly two years after the death of Yeardley Love, the effort to create a caring community that we began with the Day of Dialogue will become more important than ever.”

Police reports say Huguely, who was also UVA scholarship athlete, beat Love to death after an argument. The two had dated, but police documents indicate their relationship ended just before she died, and that they fought the night before her body was found. Huguely's arrest warrant states he told police that he hit Love during that argument and her head continually banged into the wall. Love's roommate found her face down on her pillow, dead in their apartment May 3, 2010. Love also had a swollen right eye and severe facial bruising.
Jury selection in Huguely’s first degree murder trial is slated to begin February 6 with opening statements starting as early as February 7.
A pre-trial motion hearing is scheduled for Friday, February 3.
In Session's Jean Casarez was in the court for the last hearing in the Huguely trial, as attorney's tried to keep evidence regarding Love's medical history a secret.
