Let's say it together: "i" before "e" except after "c" -- and "c" before "h" pretty much always.
If you're going to make a spelling error, don't do it right in front of a school!
A crossing sign was spotted in lower Manhattan with two mistakes: "SHCOOL X-NG" (you're also missing an "I" there, buddy!).
School officials are reportedly blaming a utility worker for the blunder, but WABC says the error has been there since the summer of 2010. And not only is it right outside the Lower East Side Preparatory School, it's close to TWO other schools. And you're telling us no one noticed until now?!?
I guess the foundations of a basic education are really just Reading, wRiting and aRithmetic. Nobody said nutin' about spelling. But spell check can't save you when you're out on the streets.
To the poor guy who made the gaffe, we'll give you credit for this: At least you tried putting the COOL back in SHCOOL -- and we certainly can't blame you for that!
