Gosh, sometimes we really are no better than parakeets.
Here we are, trying to concentrate on a very important State of the Union address, and all we can fixate on is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's sparkly headband. You can't tell from the picture above, but it was so sparkly! And was it like, beads? Bedazzled maybe? Were those matching earrings? It was so thin and chic! (A far cry from the puffy '90s headgear she was so fond of sporting as first lady.)
Wait, what is happening? State of the Union! Concentrate. No thinking about headbands. Not even you, Vanity Fair (who live-tweeted the event in amusing fashion):
This is shameful. Hillary Clinton is an important political leader whose sartorial choices, no matter how cute or distracting, should not be a topic of conversation.
So, for the sake of gender equality: John Boehner's tie. That is all.
