Hey ladies, "Axe" has great news: Now you too can immerse yourselves in their pungent aerosol cloud of sexiness.
The makers of every 14-year-old boy’s secret weapon are now releasing a new scent called “Anarchy,” that has versions for both men and women. The brand’s Facebook page released the first of two commercials for the pair of products today (of course, you have to “like” the page to see it), and TV commercials are expected to start running near the end of January.
According to a teaser trailer, this new scent combination will cause lady cops to chase male civilians, and possibly make the world start to crumble completely as strangers hungrily sniff each other out.
These kind of scenarios are right on par with past advertising spots, which almost unfailingly feature lusty females lustily lusting over a man wearing Axe products. But in case you needed more illustration, there’s also a serialized graphic novel on Facebook and Youtube that will progress according to readers’ suggestions.
The New York Times quotes Axe’s senior brand manager, Barret Roberts, who says the fragrance was a result of popular demand from women for their own Axe scent. The female version of the Anarchy spray will be released on a limited-edition basis, and the men’s scent will also be available in several other products like shampoo and deodorants.
How do you think the Axe for Women experiment will work out? Do you think women will want to flock to a brand whose hair pomades include directions to “finger, rub, spread” or will the response be less Anarchy and more “yuck?”
