In Session contributor Sara Ganim reports that Jerry Sandusky’s book helped investigators identify sex abuse victims, and that police may have evidence of hundreds of criminal charges that will not be prosecuted against the former Penn State assistant football coach.
Sandusky is awaiting trial, where he faces 52 charges of child rape and molestation based on accusations from 10 alleged victims. He is currently out on bond and under house arrest. Sandusky has maintained his innocence in regards to all the charges, but he does admit to showering with boys.
The mother of the boy identified as Victim 6 in the grand jury presentment says investigators used Sandusky’s autobiography, “Touched” to help identify four of the alleged victims.
The mother claims she sat down with detectives to show them parts of the book that identified boys who attended football games with Sandusky. In another revelation, she says police had evidence of hundreds of counts of sex abuse committed by Sandusky.
“At one point police told me they’ve had less evidence in murder cases,” she said. “I kept being told, March, April, June, October ... The [Attorney General] kept asking for more evidence. The police told me they had enough for 400 counts, but the AG wanted only 40. This whole thing just stinks so much more than we all know.”
