Mark this as the first time you’ve heard “Mitt Romney,” "President Obama" and “Kim Kardashian” all in the same sentence.
On a campaign stop in Iowa on Sunday, GOP hopeful Mitt Romney proved he’s up with the latest gossip by comparing Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign to Kim’s split-second marriage:
“You know, I’ve been looking at some video clips on YouTube, of President Obama, then candidate Obama, going through Iowa making promises,” Romney said, throwing in a YouTube reference just for good measure. “The gap between his promises and his performance is the largest I’ve seen since, well, the Kardashian wedding and the promise of ‘til death do us part.’ “
This isn’t the first time Romney has used pop culture to color his descriptions of political figures. He likened Newt Gingrich to Lucille Ball at the chocolate factory, and traveling even further back in time, he compared Obama to Marie Antoinette.
With Iowa's vote just hours away and the GOP race heating up (along with his poll numbers) do you think Romney’s attention-getting witticisms are helping him connect with voters, or are his digs just getting a little silly?
