Jerry Sandusky’s wife, Dottie, may have been worried her husband would be accused of something, before he was ever charged. That’s what family friend, Jeff Byers, is telling The Patriot-News.
Byers grew up with the former Penn State football coach’s five children. Byers is now a radio host in State College, Pennsylvania. He told the Patriot-News he doesn’t think Dottie Sandusky saw anything inappropriate, but added, “She did talk to Jerry. She had concerns just that -- I think she was concerned that people could perceive things the wrong way. Not child rape, that’s a whole different category. But I think she generally had some concern that someone could falsely accuse him. He had problems with the boundary issue.”
Byers also said Dottie would not be afraid to say something if she saw something she felt was not right. Dottie issued a statement earlier this month, saying she believes her husband is innocent.
Jerry Sandusky has been accused of sexually abusing young boys since the mid-1990's. His wife was at his side as he walked into a courthouse earlier this month for a preliminary hearing. He waived that hearing, and the case will go to trial unless there is a plea deal – something Sandusky’s lawyers have said is not in the works. Sandusky has denied all the charges.
