Take that, haters! Kim really did go to Haiti to help out, and no, she didn’t pamper herself in a fancy hotel the whole time! Or so she says...
Though Kim’s gotten quite the reputation of a ne’er-do-well, she slammed critics of her trip to Haiti, calling her time there “completely life-changing” and “surprisingly positive,” and saying outrage over her rumored exploits “belittles the entire experience we had in Haiti.”
Wait … when did Kim go to Haiti?
Earlier this month, she and omnipresent momager Kris Jenner spent time in Haiti working with actress Maria Bello’s charity, We Advance. Pictures circulated of a fresh-looking Kim surrounded by locals at what was dubbed a “fashion show,” as well as pics of her at a charity Christmas extravaganza.
Naturally, critics questioned the timing and motivation surrounding her trip. The National Enquirer reported Kim stayed in a $1000-a-night hotel suite in Port-au-Prince, traveled like royalty, and avoided the poorest areas of the city.
Kim posted a reply on her CeleBuzz blog, saying none of this was true, and included that she visited an artisan fair and bought some locally made jewelry.
“Our mission was to learn more about…We Advance, meet the Haitian people…and celebrate the women of Haiti, who inspired me more than I ever could have anticipated,” she wrote.
Is this just another media-savvy ploy from the Kardashian camp, or did a charity-minded Kim really get the short end of the stick this time?
