The Top 10 list of 2011 Top 10 lists

With only a few days left in 2011, we join the media masses by reflecting upon the year that was with a succinct top 10 list. Everyone has one, but we’re besting them by making a top 10 list of this year's top 10 lists. Take that, annual pop-culture compilers!

1. Top 10 annoying words
Seriously? Choosing 'whatever' as the most annoying word? Just sayin'. Look at that: In 10 words we dropped three of the year’s most irritating words. Check out other words that angered you this year.

2. Top 10 television episodes
The television landscape is mired in shows you may never see, even if you have a dozen DVRs working overtime. But with Time magazine’s top 10 TV episodes of the year, you don’t have to troll the net to see what you may have missed.

3. Top 10 gay rights moments
This year was big for the LGBT community in the media. Stars came out. New York legalized gay marriage -- and Conan O'Brien officiated one of the ceremonies! The year was so momentous E! ranked the top 10 gay rights moments.

4.  Top 10 worst jobs
The anemic economy continued struggling in 2011, but some careers suffered more than others. Do you have one of AOL's worst jobs in 2011? Hint: If you're a roustabout, this probably wasn't your year.

5. Top 10 most annoying songs
Be honest. You probably have at least one of About.com’s most annoying pop songs of 2011 on your playlist. That doesn’t make them any less exasperating. And according to this list, 2011 was filled with good artists making bad musical choices.

6. Top 10 dumbest criminals
A group of teenage boys reportedly confused the cremated remains of a man and his dog for drugs and snorted them. And a woman went to Wal-Mart to allegedly cook up meth. Those are just two of the stories featured on the About.com’s dumbest criminals list.

7. Top 10 ugliest cars
If you own a Toyota Prius, you may want to bypass Edmunds Inside Line’s list of 2011’s least attractive cars. Don’t feel bad though because a Ferrari is on the list, too.

8. Top 10 ringtones
It probably says a lot about our culture that we rank ringtones. The traditional telephone ring is so 1900s. But what does it say about us when the No. 1 cell phone jingle on Billboard is LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It”? Imagine that tune going off in a job interview. #awkward

9. Top 10 fails
You never thought you’d read the word Kardashian and Congress in the same sentence. You thought wrong, my friend. Thanks to the Seattle Times top 10 list of fails in 2011, the two will forever be linked for better or worse. This union will last longer than 72 days.

10. Top food trends
Sweet! Honey is back in style and so is the centuries-old throwback mead. They are just two of Forbes' palate captivating food trends this year
