It's a no brainer that the Jerry Sandusky case would go to trial. Arrogant, narcissistic, Sandusky used the opportunity, in my opinion, to make the announcement of the cancelation as a public forum in the media and press as a platform to state his case openly and to garner and waiver public opinion before the trial begins.
In my memoir, “Getting Back to My Me,” I detail how sexual abuse traumatized me, and changed my life forever. As a victim/victor of sexual abuse by an older male cousin at a very young age, I am the person who can give a relative account of how these alleged victimized men must feel. I was not a victim in this alleged Sandusky case, however, this incident triggers the same feelings of powerlessness that I encountered.
Sandusky decided to waive his right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. This hearing would have given these men the opportunity to speak out and confront Sandusky for the first time. This could have allowed some sense of release and relief. For that to be taken away is yet again another form of abuse, by the same alleged perpetrator!
I am appalled and shocked that Sandusky was able to be allowed to go free with an ankle bracelet. It's a slap in the face to me, other alleged victims and their families. If he is wearing the bracelet, that means there is cause and suspicion. Why was he not taken into custody with no bail until after trial?
