Pleasures, an adult toy store in Huntsville, Alabama, had what they thought was a great idea: Customers could donate a toy to their "Toys for Tots" charity display, and then select a, um, more adult plaything in exchange.
Shockingly, Toys for Tots, which is run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, wasn’t too thrilled about being associated with the “one stop romance shop.” Ret. Major Brian A Murray, VP of Operations for the charity, told the Huffington Post that the charity “should not be advertised at an adult store.”
Despite what the owner called a “very generous” haul of donations, Pleasures eventually decided to remove the Toys for Tots name from their drive. The toys are still going to charity, though, and on top of that, the store is also donating to “Save the Ta-Tas,” a breast cancer awareness organization.
This isn’t the first time Pleasures has broken the mold of the quiet everyday neighborhood sex shop. According to the Huffington Post, the store also made headlines when it opened a drive-through window, the first of its kind in the nation.
A charity-minded adult store where you don’t even need to leave your car? It’s official: We’ve seen everything.
