Look: A college football headline NOT related to that scandal.
In what might be the ultimate student-athlete dilemma, Yale quarterback Patrick Witt has chosen to lead his team against rival Harvard Saturday and forgo his chance at a prestigious scholarship, according to the Yale Daily News.
His Rhodes Scholarship interview was scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday in Atlanta. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. in New Haven, Connecticut. The signal caller officially announced his decision Sunday and said he’d withdrawn his scholarship application, the paper reports.
Witt’s decision comes two weeks after he became a Rhodes finalist.
He says he is focusing his energy on beating archrival Harvard.
But with the Bulldogs 5-4 record, will Witt's presence for the Yale team be enough to overcome the 8-1 Crimson?
It looks like Witt thinks so, and you can bet the rest of the team is going to be feeling the pressure to notch a win for their loyal teammate.
