Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, said he and Giffords are still considering the possibility of trying to have a child together one day.
"It's something we will continue to talk about, and I think we'll know when the time is right. It's not today, but it could be a year from now," Kelly said, according to ABC News.

On Diane Sawyer's ABC special about the couple Monday night, Sawyer said that prior to suffering a gunshot to the head last January in a mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona, Giffords had started in vitro treatments. The couple's busy lives, however, forced them to postpone appointments, she said.
“She would’ve been pregnant on January 14 if everything went right,” Kelly told Sawyer. “And then January 8 happened."
Sawyer said that although Giffords doesn’t remember the day she was shot, she’s since learned about the tragedy that took place: “Kelly says he has seen her crying, moaning, coping with the knowledge that 13 were wounded and six people died, including a little girl and a beloved member of her staff,” Sawyer said.
When asked if she’d consider an attempt to return to Congress, Giffords told Sawyer, “No…better.”
“She wants to get better,” Kelly elaborated for her.
“You want to get better,” Sawyer continued. “And so you think to yourself, ‘I’ll go back to Congress if I get better.’”
“Yes, yes, yes,” Giffords replied.
The couple has a new book out, "Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope."
