Buckle up: You’re about to read about some everyday people indulging in highly irregular habits on the TLC docu-series “My Strange Addiction.”
First, meet Lauren, a 48-year-old California woman who became hooked on body building after recovering from alcohol and cocaine addiction. “I found something else to consume me in my energy, my efforts, and it was health and fitness,” she says. But has this she-Hulk gone too far? You decide!
From rock-hard to light and fluffy, our next subject loves eating -- wait for it -- toilet paper! “I like how it feels when it goes on my tongue,” 34-year-old Kesha explains. “I guess it’s an acquired taste.” Kesha says she keeps a roll on her at all times. And the very best place to snack on tissues in relative privacy? The movie theater, she says.
Finally, we have a 20-something Texan who says she’s addicted to shoes. Rebecca says she owns 200 pairs, and, according to TLC, she’s spent more than $45,000 dollars on footwear. “I believe my shoes have feelings, so if I don’t wear them or if I ignore them I believe I hurt their feelings,” she says with a straight face. Can her concerned fiancé and mother rein her in before her spending gets even more out of control?
