Tropical storm Gert is dying quickly over the Atlantic Ocean this morning. Interesting note – this is the first time since they’ve given proper names to storms (early 1950s) that a hurricane season has reached the ‘G’ name without a hurricane. So far they have all been tropical storms!
It has been wet though baby. The NE has had a too of rain in the last few days, with anywhere between 6-11” falling over the NYC area. More rain is falling around the entire NE this morning, but like Tyson it has lost a lot of punch. I still wouldn’t want to get popped by him though.
The showers will inevitably slow down air traffic from Boston to Philly today, and I’ll have the radar plus delays.
Dry air has settled into the OH Valley, Great Lakes, TN valley and the Mid Atlantic. It has been comfortable for a few days there now.
More rain and thunder will edge through lower FL this morning and start to build northward for the day, and we’ll see that all around the Gulf coast. Heat is back for Houston with an advisory for the heat index of 105-110F too. That high pressure region in the SW will build northward through next Monday and allow the heat to slam down on OK, TX, AR, LA and KS for the end of the week as well.
The West looks pretty lovely for today, but the monsoon will bring pop-up storms over the southern Four Corners.
