It’s Friday, Friday… Gotta get down on Friday… (Yep, I’m still on THAT bandwagon!)
The Awkward Award of the Year goes to the tennis player who’s cell phone goes off in the middle of a match!! Alize Cornet was soooo embarrassed playing the #1 world ranked woman in the world Caroline Wozniacki… Woznacki’s about to serve, but she stops because she thinks someones phone is going off in the crowd, a bigtime faux-pas in tennis… And then Wozniacki realizes it’s her opponent’s phone… Cornet sheepishly goes over to turn off her cell… Wozniacki went on to win the match…
The San Francisco Giants are looking for the baby who was conceived at the moment the Giants won the World Series at 7:54 pm Pacific Time on November 1, 2010. So that means the first baby born in San Francisco in exactly 24 days, 12 hours and 9 minutes will be forever known as the Giants World Championship Baby!! Hey, it’s the first World Series title for the Giants in 52 years, I’m sure a lot of people celebrated in a private fashion…
It’s the original extreme sport: the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain… The first running of the 9-day festival took place yesterday… The bulls made the half-mile run from the Santo Domingo stockyard to the bull fighting ring in about 2 minutes… there were no major injures… One bull turned and broke free from the pack scaring the heck out of several runners… In the roughly 100 years since people started keeping records of the festival, 15 people have been killed by the bulls… More than 1 million people attend the annual festival in Pamplona, Spain…
Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano is known as one of the most intense ball players in the major leagues, but Zambrano is now showing the world he has a caring side… Zambrano will adopt a 2 year-old boy from Guatemala during next week’s All-Star break… Zambrano will complete the visa for the boy, also named Carlos, on July 10, and Zambrano and his wife hope to bring their new son to the United States for good sometime in the next month… The Zambranos, who have three daughters, have had to re-paint a few rooms in their house from pink to blue preparing for their first son.
One of the biggest stars in the NBA has agreed to play overseas during the NBA Lockout… and could Kobe Bryant be next? Kobe playing in Turkey is hard to imagine… New Jersey Nets All-Star point guard Deron Williams says he will play in Turkey if the NBA Lockout causes games to be cancelled this fall, and the coach for that team in Turkey says he wants to sign Kobe as well… Kobe is the spokesperson for Turkish Airlines, so if Kobe can work a deal with a basketball team in Turkey, he’d make even more money as a pitchman over there… Back to Williams, he'll make 5 million bucks if he plays in Turkey for the entire season… but he’s taking a huge risk… if Williams is injured while playing in Turkey, he could lose the 34 million dollars he’s owed by the Nets over the next 2 NBA seasons.
Have a great weekend!!
